Don't rely on your Satnav

A reasonable number of satnavs simply refuse to function accurately in this area. It's safer to print off these directions, just in case.

General directions

From London and the East
Take the M4 westwards to junction 24 and follow the A449 to Monmouth. After about 15 miles turn off to Abergavenny and then Brecon on the A40. 175 miles from London.

From the M5 and the North
Turn off at M5 junction 8 on to the M50 and keep on what becomes the A40 to Monmouth. Six miles on, take a sharp turning off to Abergavenny and then Brecon staying on the A40.

From the South West
Turn off the M5 and take the new Severn road bridge (M49) to join the M4. Leave the M4 at junction 24 and follow the A449 towards Monmouth. After about 16 miles turn off on to the A40 for Abergavenny and then Brecon.

From the West
Either take the M4 to junction 32 and follow the A470 north to Brecon via Merthyr Tydfil; or if coming on the A40, pass Brecon and head for Abergavenny, still on the A40. After half a mile take the turning off to the left for, amongst other places, Llanfrynach. Almost immediately turn left at the T junction on to the B4558 and go under the A40. Cross a narrow pack bridge (the river Usk). Stay on this road and the Old Store House is 1.3 miles on the right.

Local Directions

After Abergavenny follow the A40 to Brecon for about 12 miles, passing over the hill at Bwlch (phonetically Boolch, Welsh for pass). After Llanhamlach the road becomes dual carriageway. In a mile or so take the turning to the left, the B4558, to Llanfrynach. Turn right at the bottom of the little feeder road on to the B4558, over a narrow pack bridge (the river Usk). Stay on this (Roman) road and the Old Storehouse is 1.3 miles on the right. There is no obvious outside sign.

Train and bus

We will collect you from Abergavenny if you wish. Otherwise, there is the X43 bus every hour that stops at the bottom of station road, Abergavenny (ask for canal bridge). Exact times are on the internet X43 Traws Cymru Connect. Journey time by bus from Abergavenny, approximatley 45 minutes.
